MarkerMouse: Mouse Cursor Control Using a Head-Mounted Marker
نویسندگان
چکیده
We propose MarkerMouse, an inexpensive method for controlling the mouse cursor using a web cam and a marker placed on the user’s forehead. Two modes of cursor control were compared: position-control and velocitycontrol. In position-control mode the cursor is positioned where the user's head is pointing. In velocity-control mode the mouse cursor moves in a constant speed in the direction the user’s head is pointing. In an experiment designed according to ISO 9241-9, we found a mean throughput 1.61 bps in positioncontrol mode. Throughput was 34% less, or 1.07 bps, in velocity-control mode. We explain how from the marker image we control the mouse cursor position and reduce noise in our computations.

Touch Feedback in a Head-Mounted Display Virtual Reality through a Kinesthetic Haptic Device
This paper presents the integration of a three degree-of-freedom (3-DOF) kinesthetic haptic device with a head-mounted display (HMD), using a virtual piano keyboard as a motivating application. The inertial sensors in the HMD allow the user to view the full set of keys without zooming out simply by turning his or her head to look up and down the keyboard. The haptic device further increases imm...

This paper presents a project on the development of a cursor control emulating the typical operations of a computer-mouse, using gyroscope and eye-blinking electromyographic signals which are obtained through a commercial 16-electrode wireless headset, recently released by Emotiv. The cursor position is controlled using information from a gyroscope included in the headset. The clicks are genera...
متن کاملHands Free Mouse: Comparative Study on Mouse Clicks Controlled by Humming
In this paper we present a novel method of simulating mouse clicks while the cursor is navigated by head movements tracked by webcam. Our method is based on simple hummed voice commands. It is fast, language independent and provides full control of common mouse buttons. Our method was compared with other three different methods in an experiment that proved its efficiency by means of task duration.

We evaluated the ability of an individual with a high cervical spinal cord injury (SCI) to control a cursor on a computer screen using two different user interfaces: (1) head movements measured via a head-mounted orientation sensor and (2) electromyography (EMG) signals from four head and neck muscles acquired using a 4-channel implanted upper-limb neuroprosthesis that had been deployed in an e...
